On September 19th, 2024, I went to Juan Buitrago at Tampa Bay Dental Solutions with an infection below my tooth number 22. Juan Buitrago at Tampa Bay Dental Solutions informed me that the root canal that was previously worked on was a bad job, He said it was a 6 out of 10. However, he could fix my problem with a simple root canal (endodontic therapy) which is a dental procedure that treats infections in the tooth pulp, the inner layer of the tooth. And he said he could do all this for $1400. Unfortunately, the procedure failed, and I'm still experiencing pain and infection in my tooth. Despite my requests, the dentist has refused to honor their work or provide a refund. He told me that if I gave him an aditional 1600 dollars more, he could make it right. I can’t believe he is trying to charge me another 1600 dollars more on top of the 1400 dollars I already gave him. That would mean 3000 dollars. This is unacceptable and wrong and downright criminal. I'm extremely disappointed with the level of care and service I received, and I would not recommend this dentist to anyone. The additional cost of $1600 to re-treat my tooth is unacceptable, and I'm exploring other options for compensation from this dentist who took my money on false hopes. I am also reaching out to legal help on litigations in small claims court. Also, I will be reaching out to Florida Board of Dentistry. After originally Visiting as Smile Care, veteran dental services clinic, I continued my service with Tampa Bay Dental Solutions. Dr Buitrago committed to honor the Smile Care service plan. Today I received the crowns for my 2 implants. They are fantastic, I am beyond happy and satisfied. The doctor expended considerable effort to secure crowns that were compatible with the implant studs. The doctor is a gentleman and a man of his word. While he and his staff’s primary language is Spanish I never had any communication issues with him or his staff as English is spoken. As a veteran I will consider him to be my primary dental care professional and have scheduled a cleaning. I arrived 5 minutes early to my appointment and ended up sitting in the back waiting for the dentist for 30 minutes before leaving. There was no other patients in the entire building. Nobody being worked on by dentist or nurses and nobody in the waiting room. For a 9:30 am appointment with nobody there you’d think they would have things ready to go but clearly didn’t. I will be going somewhere else.
